Description
A quick and easy recipe for honey garlic chicken breast that’s perfect for meal prep.
Ingredients
- 1.5 to 2 pounds chicken breast, sliced into bite-size pieces
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or low sodium soy sauce)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (or any cooking oil you like)
Instructions
- Prep the chicken: Slice chicken breast into evenly sized chunks. Pat it dry with a paper towel, then season with salt and pepper.
- Mix the sauce: In a small bowl, stir together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and a splash of vinegar. If you want it thicker, whisk in a little cornstarch (start with 1 teaspoon).
- Sear the chicken: Heat a bit of oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer. Let it cook for a few minutes without moving it too much so it browns.
- Add sauce: Pour in the sauce and stir. Let it bubble gently for a few minutes until the chicken is cooked and the sauce looks glossy.
- Cool and portion: Let everything cool for 10 to 15 minutes before sealing containers to avoid condensation.
Notes
For added heat, you can include red pepper flakes. Store chicken and sauce together or separate depending on preference.
