Description
A quick and delicious honey garlic chicken dish, perfect for a busy weeknight meal. This recipe uses simple ingredients and comes together in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or rice vinegar)
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp cold water (slurry)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned on all sides and cooked through. Remove chicken from the pan and set aside.
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring the sauce to a simmer, stirring constantly.
Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and continue to simmer, stirring, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency (about 1-2 minutes).
Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the honey garlic sauce.
Serve immediately over rice or with your favorite vegetables. Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions, if desired.
