Description
A quick and delicious honey garlic chicken dish, perfect for a busy weeknight. This recipe is ready in under 30 minutes and uses common pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 lb), cut into 1-inch pieces
1 tbsp olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or rice vinegar)
1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)
2 tbsp water (if using cornstarch)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Optional: Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
Pat chicken pieces dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.
Whisk together honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar in a small bowl. If you want a thicker sauce, whisk cornstarch with water in a separate small bowl until smooth, then add to the honey mixture.
Pour the honey garlic sauce into the skillet. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly (about 1-2 minutes). If using cornstarch, it will thicken more quickly.
Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the chicken to absorb the flavors.
Serve immediately over rice or with your favorite vegetables. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, if desired.
