A cozy dinner featuring juicy chicken thighs smothered in a sweet and tangy Maple-Dijon sauce, perfect for weeknights.
Ingredients
- 6 to 8 chicken thighs
- Salt and black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or 1 tablespoon oil and 1 tablespoon butter)
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional)
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- Optional: pinch smoked paprika or chili flakes
Instructions
- Heat oven to 400°F. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
- Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Stir together maple syrup, Dijon, garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with oil. Sear chicken skin-side down first for 3 to 5 minutes until golden.
- Flip and cook for 2 minutes more.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken and coat thoroughly.
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 18 to 25 minutes until cooked through.
- Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For pan cooking, lower heat after searing, cover, and cook until done. Add a splash of water if the sauce thickens too much.
