Description
A quick and easy honey garlic chicken recipe that is sweet, savory, and perfect for busy nights.
Ingredients
- 2 large chicken breasts, sliced in half lengthwise
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 to 3 tablespoons flour (optional, for coating)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
- 2 to 3 tablespoons water (to loosen sauce, if needed)
- Optional: red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, chopped green onions
Instructions
- Prep the chicken. Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise and pat them dry. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Optionally, dust lightly with flour.
- Sear the chicken. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil or butter and lay in the chicken. Cook without moving for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden.
- Mix the sauce. In a small bowl, stir together honey, soy sauce, garlic, and vinegar until combined.
- Simmer and glaze. Reduce heat to medium and pour the sauce into the pan. Turn the chicken to coat and let simmer for 2 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Rest and slice. Turn off the heat and let the chicken rest for a couple of minutes before slicing and serving with extra sauce on top.
Notes
If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of water to achieve the desired consistency. Always check that the chicken is fully cooked through.
