Description
This Frambled Egg Sandwich blends the best characteristics of scrambled and fried eggs into one satisfying breakfast. The whites cook first before the yolks are gently broken and incorporated, creating a fluffy yet firm egg patty layered with melted cheese between golden toasted bread.
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 2 slices bread or 1 English muffin
- 1 slice cheddar, provolone, or American cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Bacon, sausage, or ham, optional
- Ketchup, hot sauce, or mayonnaise, optional
Instructions
- Place a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Add the butter or oil and allow it to coat the pan evenly.
- Crack the eggs directly into the heated pan without breaking the yolks.
- Allow the egg whites to begin setting.
- Gently puncture the yolks with a spatula and swirl them into the partially set whites without scrambling completely.
- Gently fold the mixture until mostly set but still tender, forming it into a patty shape.
- Season the frambled eggs with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Toast the bread slices or English muffin until warm and golden.
- Place the cooked frambled egg onto one piece of toasted bread.
- Add the cheese while the egg is warm so it begins to melt.
- Add cooked bacon, sausage, ham, or preferred fillings if desired.
- Add your favorite condiment and top with the second slice of bread.
- Serve the Frambled Egg Sandwich warm and enjoy.
Notes
Use medium to medium-low heat to keep the eggs tender and prevent overcooking. Customize the sandwich with avocado, tomato, spinach, sautéed mushrooms, fresh herbs, jalapeños, pesto, hummus, or your favorite cheese. For the best experience, warm all sandwich components before assembly.
