Description
This delightful Asian-inspired Char Siu Chicken is easy to prepare and bursting with sweet, smoky flavors. A perfect dish for cozy gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Fresh scallions, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, Chinese five-spice powder, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and sesame oil.
- Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken thighs in a large resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you preheat your oven.
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) so it’s ready for roasting the chicken.
- Bake the Chicken: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it on the baking sheet. Reserve the marinade for basting. Bake for 20-25 minutes, basting halfway with the reserved marinade, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice glaze.
- Broil for Color: Switch your oven to broil the last 5 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
- Ready to Serve: Remove the chicken from the oven, let it rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve garnished with fresh scallions and sesame seeds.
Notes
Use quality chicken thighs for the best results. Don’t skip the marinade for enhanced flavor.
