Description

A delightful and comforting dish that combines sweetness from honey and savory garlic, perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 2 cups cooked rice (jasmine or brown rice work well)
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli florets
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • Optional: sesame seeds for additional garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Set aside about 2 tablespoons of the marinade for later use.
  2. Marinate the Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the bowl with the marinade. Toss well to ensure all the shrimp are coated. Allow to marinate for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the marinated shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes or until fully cooked. Drizzle the reserved marinade over the shrimp and cook for another minute, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  4. Assemble the Bowls: In serving bowls, layer the cooked rice as the base, then add the steamed broccoli and carrots. Top with the garlic shrimp, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Serve your Honey Garlic Shrimp Bowls warm and watch as everyone gathers around to savor this delightful dish.

Notes

Make-Ahead Option: You can prepare the marinade and shrimp a day in advance. Just keep the shrimp refrigerated until youโ€™re ready to cook.
