Description
A fast, comforting, and golden-crisp chicken breast recipe made in the air fryer, perfect for cozy autumn evenings.
Ingredients
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6–8 oz each)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Optional: 1/2 tsp onion powder, pinch of cayenne for heat
Instructions
- Prep the chicken: Pat each chicken breast dry with paper towels. If breasts are uneven in thickness, gently pound them to an even 1/2-inch thickness for even cooking.
- Marinate briefly: In a small bowl, whisk olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, thyme, and any optional spices. Brush or rub the mixture over both sides of the chicken.
- Let sit 10–15 minutes at room temperature while the air fryer preheats.
- Preheat air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Air-fry: Place chicken breasts in a single layer in the basket with space between pieces. Cook at 375°F for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Remove chicken and cover loosely with foil. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Make sure to use a meat thermometer to avoid dry chicken, and don’t overcrowd the basket for best results.
