Description

A beloved dish combining crispy chicken with a sweet-and-spicy sauce, perfect for comfort food lovers.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Green onions for garnish
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken: In a large bowl, coat the chicken pieces with cornstarch until they are well covered.
  2. Heat the oil: In a skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook the chicken: Add the chicken to the skillet in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Make the sauce: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant, then stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Combine: Return the chicken to the skillet and toss it with the sauce until fully coated and heated through.
  6. Serve: Plate your General Tso’s chicken over rice, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes
