Description

A crispy and flavorful dish featuring chicken pieces coated in a sweet, spicy, and savory sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken by marinating the pieces in a little soy sauce for about 15 minutes.
  2. Coat the chicken in beaten egg, then in cornstarch.
  3. Fry the chicken in hot oil for 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy.
  4. Make the sauce by whisking together soy sauce, chicken broth, sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Combine the fried chicken with the sauce in the pan and stir well to coat.
  6. Serve garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough for frying. You can also bake the chicken for a healthier option. Adjust the spice level by reducing red pepper flakes if desired.
