Description

A cozy and healthy sesame chicken recipe, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari for a gluten-free option
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: In a medium bowl, combine the chicken pieces with one tablespoon of sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and ginger. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the Chicken: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the remaining sesame oil. Once hot, add the marinated chicken and cook until golden brown and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the Sauce: Pour in the mixture of cornstarch and water. Stir well until the sauce begins to thicken and coat the chicken evenly.
  4. Finish with Sesame Seeds: Add sesame seeds to the skillet and mix to combine. Cook for an additional minute before removing from heat.
  5. Serve: Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot over rice, quinoa, or alongside a fresh salad.

Notes

Marinate for a few hours or overnight for enhanced flavor. For best results, ensure the skillet is hot before adding chicken.
