Description
A cozy and healthy sesame chicken recipe, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari for a gluten-free option
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- Sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: In a medium bowl, combine the chicken pieces with one tablespoon of sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and ginger. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Cook the Chicken: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the remaining sesame oil. Once hot, add the marinated chicken and cook until golden brown and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the Sauce: Pour in the mixture of cornstarch and water. Stir well until the sauce begins to thicken and coat the chicken evenly.
- Finish with Sesame Seeds: Add sesame seeds to the skillet and mix to combine. Cook for an additional minute before removing from heat.
- Serve: Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot over rice, quinoa, or alongside a fresh salad.
Notes
Marinate for a few hours or overnight for enhanced flavor. For best results, ensure the skillet is hot before adding chicken.
