Ingredients
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup whole-wheat breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 beaten egg
- ½ cup marinara sauce
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness of about ½ inch.
- Coat the Chicken: In a shallow bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, whisk the beaten egg. Dip each chicken breast into the egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Air Fry the Chicken: Place the coated chicken breasts in the air fryer in a single layer. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Add Marinara and Cheese: Remove the chicken from the air fryer and spoon marinara sauce over each breast. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously on top.
- Melt the Cheese: Return the chicken to the air fryer and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh basil and serve on a bed of whole-grain pasta or alongside air fryer broccoli.
