Description
A delightful dish that captures the warmth of fall with a crispy exterior and tender interior, perfect for vegetarian meals.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce (or gluten-free tamari for a GF option)
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the tofu: Start by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap it in paper towels and place a heavy object on top for about 15-20 minutes.
- Cube the tofu: Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- Marinate the tofu: In a mixing bowl, combine the cubed tofu with soy sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Gently toss to ensure all pieces are evenly coated.
- Coat with cornstarch: Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated tofu cubes and toss gently until each piece is coated.
- Preheat air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Air fry the tofu: Place the tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve and enjoy: Once done, enjoy your crispy air fryer tofu as a standalone snack or toss them in a salad or grain bowl.
Notes
Use firm or extra firm tofu for best results and avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for maximum crispiness.
