Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon milk (optional, for egg wash)
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing into thin wedges.
- Mix the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a bowl. Let sit for 15 minutes.
- Roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8-inch thickness on a floured surface.
- Cut the pastry into 4×4 inch squares or fun shapes with cookie cutters.
- Assemble by placing a tablespoon of the apple mixture in each pastry piece, folding, and sealing edges with a fork.
- Egg wash by whisking egg and milk, brushing over the pastries.
- Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes, dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
Thaw puff pastry properly and don’t overfill. You can add spices or nuts for extra flavor.
