A comforting casserole featuring tender potatoes, seasoned ground beef, and gooey cheese, perfect for family dinners or potlucks.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 cups potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheese (your choice)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings: crispy bacon or chopped green onions
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, adding the chopped onion and seasoning with salt and pepper until softened.
- Combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk in a large bowl, stirring until smooth.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased casserole dish. Top with half of the ground beef mixture and half of the cheese.
- Pour half of the soup mixture over the layers. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, beef, cheese, and soup mixture.
- Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for about 60 minutes. Then, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbling.
Notes
Use a mandolin slicer for uniform potato slices and experiment with different cheese blends for added richness.
