Description

A delightful blend of citrusy sweetness and savory goodness, Baked Orange Chicken is a simple dish that embodies the spirit of comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Combine the fresh orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, olive oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a mixing bowl.
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then place them in a zip-lock bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over. Seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Remove the chicken from the fridge.
  4. Arrange the chicken breasts in a greased baking dish, pouring any remaining marinade over the top.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and has an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  6. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing to retain juiciness.

Notes

For maximum flavor, marinate the chicken for a few hours or even overnight. Serve with steamed rice or a fresh salad and garnish with chopped green onions.
