Description

A warm embrace of layers with tender chicken, savory marinara, and bubbling cheese, perfect for cozy fall nights.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (use gluten-free if needed)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the chicken by gently pounding to an even thickness of half an inch and season with salt, pepper, and oregano.
  3. Set out three shallow bowls for breading: one with breadcrumbs and garlic, one with beaten egg, and the last with Parmesan cheese. Dip each chicken breast in the egg, then coat with breadcrumbs, and finally press into Parmesan cheese.
  4. Bake the breaded chicken on a greased baking sheet for 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Add marinara sauce over each piece and top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Return to the oven for 10 more minutes until melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve garnished with fresh basil leaves and enjoy with a side of salad or baked spinach artichoke dip.
