Description
A comforting and easy-to-make Air Fryer Whole Chicken that yields crispy skin and juicy meat, perfect for cozy autumn gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (about 4-5 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Lemon wedges and herbs (optional, for flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 360°F (182°C) for about 5 minutes before cooking.
- Season the Chicken: Pat the whole chicken dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Rub this seasoning mixture all over the chicken, making sure to coat all sides evenly.
- Add Flavor if Desired: For an extra burst of flavor, stuff the cavity of the chicken with lemon wedges and fresh herbs.
- Place in the Air Fryer: Carefully place the seasoned chicken into the basket of the air fryer, breast side down.
- Cook: Air fry the chicken for 30 minutes. After this initial cooking time, flip the chicken to breast side up, and cook for an additional 20-30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (73°C).
- Let Rest: Once done, let the chicken rest for about 10 minutes before carving. This step helps retain the juices, ensuring each bite is moist and flavorful.
