Description

A cozy and delightful Air Fryer Tofu dish with a sweet and savory sticky sesame sauce, perfect for fall.


Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz) block of firm tofu (pressed and cubed)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or preferred cooking oil)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (ensure it’s gluten-free if necessary)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for topping)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Start by pressing the tofu for about 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture. Wrap it in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top.
  2. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, gently toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch and olive oil until evenly coated.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the coated tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  6. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  7. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger.
  8. Stir continuously until the mixture is simmering and slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  9. Once the tofu is done air frying, transfer it to a large mixing bowl.
  10. Drizzle the sticky sesame sauce over the crispy tofu, tossing gently to coat each piece.
  11. Plate the tofu and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Enjoy!

Notes

For best results, ensure you use firm or extra-firm tofu. Do not overcrowd the air fryer to achieve maximum crispiness.
