Description
A cozy and delightful Air Fryer Tofu dish with a sweet and savory sticky sesame sauce, perfect for fall.
Ingredients
- 1 (14 oz) block of firm tofu (pressed and cubed)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (or preferred cooking oil)
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce (ensure it’s gluten-free if necessary)
- 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for topping)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by pressing the tofu for about 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture. Wrap it in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top.
- Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, gently toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch and olive oil until evenly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC) for about 5 minutes.
- Place the coated tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger.
- Stir continuously until the mixture is simmering and slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Once the tofu is done air frying, transfer it to a large mixing bowl.
- Drizzle the sticky sesame sauce over the crispy tofu, tossing gently to coat each piece.
- Plate the tofu and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Enjoy!
Notes
For best results, ensure you use firm or extra-firm tofu. Do not overcrowd the air fryer to achieve maximum crispiness.
