Description
A cozy fall dish featuring crispy chicken coated in a sticky sesame sauce, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or chicken breast)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: cooked rice or stir-fried vegetables, for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken: Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Pat them dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
- Set up breading stations: In one bowl, add flour. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs and sesame seeds.
- Coat the chicken: First, dip each piece of chicken into the flour, shaking off excess. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the panko-sesame mixture.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Air fry the chicken: Arrange the coated chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray lightly with cooking oil. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- Make the sauce: Combine soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger in a saucepan over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes.
- Combine and serve: Once the chicken is ready, toss it in the sesame sauce and serve over rice or alongside stir-fried vegetables, garnished with green onions.
Notes
Use one hand for wet ingredients and another for dry to prevent clumping. Cook chicken in batches if necessary to allow hot air to circulate.
