Description
A wholesome, protein-packed bagel recipe perfect for cozy fall days.
Ingredients
- 1 cup high-protein flour (or almond flour for a gluten-free option)
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (preferably plain, non-fat or full-fat)
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- Sesame seeds, everything bagel seasoning, or your favorite toppings (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the high-protein flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to combine the dry ingredients.
- Add wet ingredients: Next, add the Greek yogurt and egg to the dry mixture. You can also include honey or maple syrup at this stage if you like a hint of sweetness. Use a spatula or your hands to mix the ingredients until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough: On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough gently for about 1-2 minutes until itโs smooth and pliable.
- Shape the bagels: Divide the dough into equal portions (about four portions) and roll each piece into a ball. Use your finger to poke a hole in the center of each ball to shape the bagels. Gently stretch the hole until itโs big enough.
- Preheat the air fryer: While shaping your bagels, preheat your air fryer to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) for about 5 minutes.
- Add toppings: If you desire, sprinkle sesame seeds or your favorite seasoning on top of the bagels, pressing gently to ensure they adhere.
- Air fry the bagels: Place your bagels in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each one. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and serve: Once done, allow the bagels to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them toasted with cream cheese, avocado, or your favorite spread!
Notes
Donโt overwork the dough for a light bagel, and feel free to experiment with various toppings!
