Ingredients
- 1 (4-5 lbs) prime rib roast (halal)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted halal butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried rosemary)
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried thyme)
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Optional: 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
- Remove the prime rib from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 1 hour.
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil or melted halal butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and Dijon mustard if using.
- Pat your roast dry with paper towels and generously rub the herb and spice mixture over the entire surface of the prime rib.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Place the prime rib in the air fryer basket fat side up and cook at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes.
- Reduce the temperature to 325°F (160°C) and continue cooking for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
- Check the internal temperature: 125°F (52°C) for rare, 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare, and 145°F (63°C) for medium.
- Remove the prime rib from the air fryer and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
- Slice the prime rib into thick pieces and serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer to ensure your prime rib is cooked to desired doneness.
