Description

Cozy fall treats perfect for a warm, savory snack that combines nostalgic flavors with modern air frying ease.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella (or a halal-friendly cheese alternative)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped roasted bell peppers or pepperoni-style halal slices
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water for egg wash
  • Cornmeal or flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prep the dough: Lightly flour your work surface and roll the pizza dough into a rectangle about 12×8 inches. Dust with cornmeal to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer the filling: Spread an even layer of marinara, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle mozzarella, chopped peppers or halal-style slices, and a pinch of Italian seasoning.
  3. Roll and cut: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Seal the seam by pinching the dough. Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 12 even rolls.
  4. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and preheat for 3 minutes.
  5. Brush and arrange: Brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash and a little melted butter. Place the rolls seam-side down in the air fryer basket, leaving small gaps for air circulation. You may need to do two batches depending on basket size.
  6. Air fry: Cook for 8–10 minutes, checking at 6 minutes. Rolls should be golden brown and the cheese bubbly. If the tops brown too quickly, lower the temperature by 10–15°F.
  7. Finish and serve: Remove carefully, brush with remaining melted butter mixed with garlic powder, and sprinkle Parmesan. Serve warm with extra marinara for dipping.

Notes

Don’t overfill the rolls to avoid leaks. Store cooled rolls in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheat in the air fryer for best texture.
