A quick and easy recipe for a comforting Air Fryer Grilled Cheese with warm melted cheese and buttery crisp bread, perfect for chilly nights.
Ingredients
- 4 slices sturdy bread (sourdough or country loaf recommended)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups shredded cheese (a mix of sharp cheddar and mild mozzarella)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for 3–5 minutes. Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
- Layer the unbuttered side of two slices with Dijon mustard and mayonnaise. Add a generous layer of shredded cheese. Season with salt and pepper, and top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side out.
- Air fry the sandwiches in a single layer at 370°F (188°C) for 5–6 minutes. Carefully flip and cook another 3–4 minutes until both sides are golden and the cheese is melted.
- Rest the sandwiches for 1–2 minutes before slicing to help the cheese set.
