Description
Delightful air fryer donuts that offer the classic donut taste with less guilt, perfect for cozy fall gatherings or warm family breakfasts.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup yogurt (Greek yogurt works well)
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (or plant-based alternative)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: powdered sugar or glaze for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350ยฐF (180ยฐC) for approximately 5 minutes while you mix the batter.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk them together until evenly mixed.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the yogurt, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Shape Your Donuts: Scoop the batter into a donut mold or a piping bag. Fill each donut cavity about 2/3 of the way full if using a mold, or pipe the batter directly into the fryer basket, forming donut shapes.
- Air Fry the Donuts: Carefully place the mold or basket into the air fryer and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let Them Cool: Once cooked, remove the donuts and set them on a wire rack to cool slightly.
- Add the Finishing Touches: Dust your donuts with powdered sugar or dip them in a glaze made of powdered sugar and milk if desired.
Notes
Donโt overmix the batter for light results. Cooking times can vary, so check for doneness a minute early. Use cooking spray to prevent sticking.
