Delicious Air Fryer Apple Turnovers with a crispy crust and warm apple filling, perfect for fall.
Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- ยฝ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ยผ cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 package pre-made puff pastry sheets
- 1 egg (or a plant-based egg substitute)
- 1 tablespoon milk (or a plant-based alternative)
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Combine chopped apples, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and cornstarch in a mixing bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares if needed.
- Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each pastry square.
- Fold the pastry over to form a triangle and seal the edges with a fork.
- Whisk together the egg and milk, then brush over the tops of the turnovers.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) for 3-5 minutes.
- Cook the turnovers in a single layer for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from the air fryer, let cool slightly, and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Using a mix of tart and sweet apples enhances flavor. Keep puff pastry cold for better flakiness.
