Description

A warm, homemade apple pie made easy with an air fryer, perfect for cozy fall baking.


Ingredients

  • 1 package Pie crust (two sheets)
  • 4 cups Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 3/4 cup Sugar (adjust based on apple sweetness)
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch (for thickening)
  • 1 Egg wash (1 egg mixed with 1 tablespoon of water)
  • Optional: Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving


Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Start by peeling, coring, and dicing your apples. Place them in a large bowl and add lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Mix Ingredients: To the bowl of apples, add sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Stir until the apples are well-coated with the mixture.
  3. Roll Out the Pie Crust: If youโ€™re using a store-bought crust, roll it out to fit your air fryer basket. If making homemade crust, roll your dough into a circle about 1/8 inch thick. Cut one circle for the base and one for the top.
  4. Assemble the Pie: Lay the first pie crust in the bottom of the air fryer basket, press it gently to fit. Pour the apple mixture onto the crust, making sure itโ€™s evenly distributed. Cover with the second crust and seal the edges by crimping them together. Cut small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  5. Apply Egg Wash: Brush the top of the pie with the egg wash for a beautiful golden finish.
  6. Cook in the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 320ยฐF (160ยฐC). Place the pie into the basket and cook for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness. The crust should be golden brown, and you should see the filling bubbling slightly through the slits.
  7. Cool and Serve: Once done, remove the pie from the air fryer and let it cool for at least 10 minutes. Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

Allow the pie to cool properly to help the filling thicken. Use seasonal apples for the best flavor. Adjust sugar based on apple sweetness.
