Description
Crispy and warm apple fries coated in cinnamon and sugar, perfect for fall snacking or dessert.
Ingredients
- 3 large apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), cored and sliced into 1/2-inch “fries”
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/4 cup flour (gluten-free option available)
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs or crushed cereal
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter or neutral oil
- Cooking spray or a light brush of oil
- Optional for serving: vanilla yogurt, caramel sauce, or warm honey
Instructions
- Prep the apples: Toss sliced apples with lemon juice in a large bowl to prevent browning.
- Make the coating: In a shallow dish mix flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. In another dish combine panko and a pinch more cinnamon.
- Coat the fries: Lightly dredge each apple slice in the flour mix, dip into the melted butter, then press into the panko mixture so each fry is evenly coated.
- Preheat the air fryer: Heat to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with oil.
- Arrange and air fry: Place apple fries in a single layer and cook for 7–9 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.
- Finish and serve: Remove to a cooling rack or plate. Dust with a little extra cinnamon sugar and serve warm with yogurt or sauce.
Notes
For best results, serve immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer to regain crispiness.
