Description
A delicious 2 ingredient coffee slushie no blender required. This incredibly simple frozen coffee treat is frosty, refreshing, and perfect for cooling down on a warm day.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 cups ice cubes
- 1-2 teaspoons sugar (optional, adjust to preference)
- 1/4 cup milk (optional, for a creamy texture)
Instructions
- Prepare your coffee by dissolving the instant coffee granules in the hot water. Make the coffee quite concentrated for the best flavor.
- Allow the coffee to cool completely to room temperature.
- Pour the cooled coffee into a shallow, freezer-safe dish or an ice cube tray.
- Place the dish or tray in the freezer and freeze for about 30-45 minutes, until the edges begin to solidify.
- Remove the dish from the freezer and use a fork to scrape the partially frozen coffee, breaking up any large ice formations.
- Return it to the freezer and repeat the scraping process every 30-45 minutes for 2-3 hours.
- Continue scraping until the entire mixture has a fine, icy slushie texture.
- Spoon the coffee slushie into a glass and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best texture, chill the coffee completely before freezing and use a shallow dish so it freezes evenly. Scrape every 30-45 minutes to prevent large ice crystals. If the mixture freezes solid, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scraping again. Add sugar, milk, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, cinnamon, or whipped cream if desired.
