Description

A wholesome and nostalgic brownie made with whole wheat flour and no eggs, perfectly moist, rich, and satisfying on a cozy afternoon.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup plain yogurt (or mashed ripe banana)
  • ½ cup melted butter or coconut oil
  • ¼ cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruit

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together yogurt (or banana), melted butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Sift in whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt over the wet mixture. Fold gently until just combined—do not overmix.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using. Add a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom for a seasonal touch.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 22–26 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  6. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice once completely cool.

Notes

Spoon and level the flour to avoid over-measuring. For a deeper flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder. Let brownies cool fully before cutting for clean slices.
