Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup maple syrup or honey
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 teaspoon orange juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 2 blocks (16 oz total) full-fat cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
- Optional toppings: chopped walnuts or pecans, fresh rosemary sprigs
- For serving: crackers, sliced baguette, or pretzel chips
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, water, maple syrup, orange zest, and orange juice. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–12 minutes until cranberries burst and the sauce thickens. Stir in vanilla and cinnamon. Let cool.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until light and fluffy (3–5 minutes). Add powdered sugar if desired for sweetness.
- Spread whipped cream cheese in a shallow dish. Spoon the cooled cranberry sauce on top. Swirl gently for a marbled effect or fully combine, depending on preference.
- Garnish with chopped nuts and rosemary sprigs. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature cream cheese and prep the cranberry sauce ahead. Serve with buttery crackers or toasted baguette. This dip can also be baked at 350°F for 10 minutes for a warm version.
