Description
Cozy Tuna Melt Patties combining flaky tuna with melty cheese and a crispy crust, perfect for weeknight dinners or cozy fall afternoons.
Ingredients
- 2 (5 oz) cans of tuna, drained and flaked
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or gluten-free crumbs for a GF version)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter for frying (or spray for baking)
- Optional: chopped fresh parsley or chives for garnish
Instructions
- Combine flaked tuna, breadcrumbs, shredded cheese, chopped onion, mayonnaise, beaten egg, Dijon, lemon zest, paprika, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Mix gently.
- Divide the mixture into 6–8 equal portions and form into patties about 1/2–3/4 inch thick.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place patties on a parchment-lined sheet, spray with oil, and bake for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Top each patty with a slice of cheese during the last minute of cooking, covering with a lid to melt.
Notes
Chill patties for 15 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape. Use moderate heat for a golden crust without burning.
