Description

Cozy Tuna Melt Patties combining flaky tuna with melty cheese and a crispy crust, perfect for weeknight dinners or cozy fall afternoons.

Ingredients

  • 2 (5 oz) cans of tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or gluten-free crumbs for a GF version)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter for frying (or spray for baking)
  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine flaked tuna, breadcrumbs, shredded cheese, chopped onion, mayonnaise, beaten egg, Dijon, lemon zest, paprika, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Mix gently.
  2. Divide the mixture into 6–8 equal portions and form into patties about 1/2–3/4 inch thick.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place patties on a parchment-lined sheet, spray with oil, and bake for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway.
  5. Top each patty with a slice of cheese during the last minute of cooking, covering with a lid to melt.

Notes

Chill patties for 15 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape. Use moderate heat for a golden crust without burning.
