Description

This Super Moist Chocolate Chip Banana Bread combines the comfort of classic banana bread with gooey chocolate chips for a tender, flavorful loaf.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 very ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semisweet or milk)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter with both sugars until combined. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla, mashed bananas, and sour cream.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until no streaks of flour remain. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift it out using the parchment overhang and cool completely on a rack before slicing.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor. Don’t overmix the batter once you add the flour.
