Spooky Ghost Cupcakes with Marshmallow Toppers are a fun, chocolatey Halloween treat made with pantry-friendly ingredients and topped with cute ghost marshmallows. Perfect for parties or cozy fall baking nights!
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¾ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- ⅓ cup neutral oil
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup plain yogurt or sour cream
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 12 large marshmallows
- 1½ cups white melting chocolate or white candy melts
- Black edible gel or melted dark chocolate for ghost faces
- Optional: Halloween sprinkles or crushed cookies
- Optional: Orange cupcake liners
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until smooth. Add yogurt, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients gently. Do not overmix.
- Fill each cupcake liner ¾ full and bake for 18–20 minutes. A toothpick should come out clean.
- Cool cupcakes completely on a wire rack.
- Melt white chocolate in 30-second intervals in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
- Dip each marshmallow into melted chocolate and place on parchment paper.
- Let set slightly, then draw ghost faces using black edible gel or melted dark chocolate.
- Place one ghost marshmallow on top of each cooled cupcake.
Notes
Let cupcakes cool completely before topping to prevent ghost marshmallows from melting. Use a toothpick or piping bag for precise ghost faces.
