Ingredients
- 1 cup soy curls
- 1 cup vegetable broth (or any preferred broth)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option)
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for heat preference)
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional, for added flavor)
- 1 cup plant-based milk
- Cooking spray or a few teaspoons of oil for air frying
Instructions
- Prepare the soy curls: Start by hydrating the soy curls in a bowl with vegetable broth for about 10-15 minutes, then drain and squeeze out excess liquid.
- Create the coating by mixing all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, and nutritional yeast in a bowl.
- Coat the soy curls by dipping each piece into the plant-based milk followed by the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Air fry the soy curls: Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray, place the coated soy curls in a single layer, and lightly spray the tops. Cook for about 15 minutes, shaking halfway through.
- Serve and enjoy: Remove the crispy soy curls from the air fryer and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or salad.
