Description

A cozy one-pot casserole filled with savory ingredients and topped with a golden biscuit-like crust, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey (or ground beef)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups mixed frozen vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or homemade creamy sauce)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups biscuit mix (or a homemade drop-biscuit dough)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a large ovenproof skillet or a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey with the chopped onion until browned and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
  3. Build the filling: Add the frozen vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir until combined and heated through. Simmer 3–4 minutes so flavors meld.
  4. Top with biscuits: In a bowl, mix biscuit mix and milk to form a soft dough. Drop spoonfuls of dough evenly over the filling. Brush tops with melted butter for a golden finish.
  5. Bake: Transfer to the oven and bake 20–25 minutes, until biscuits are puffed and golden and the filling bubbles at the edges.
  6. Rest and serve: Let cool 5 minutes before serving. This gives the filling a chance to settle and makes portioning easier.

Notes

Don’t overmix the biscuit dough and ensure even dollops for uniform cooking.
