Description

Delicious homemade mozzarella sticks made easily in the air fryer, perfect for autumn gatherings and cozy movie nights.


Ingredients

  • 12 sticks of mozzarella cheese (string cheese works well)
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour (you can use gluten-free flour if desired)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups of panko bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder (optional for a zing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or olive oil spray


Instructions

  1. Prep the Cheese: Cut each mozzarella stick in half, creating 24 pieces of cheesy delight.
  2. Set Up Dredging Station: In three shallow bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, whisk eggs together in the second bowl, and mix panko breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.
  3. Coat the Cheese Sticks: Dip one mozzarella piece into the flour, shake off the excess, dip into the egg mixture, and press into the breadcrumb mix for a well-coated crunch.
  4. Double the Crunch (Optional): Repeat egg and breadcrumb steps for an extra-crispy coating.
  5. Air Fry the Sticks: Preheat your air fryer and spray the basket with cooking oil, then arrange mozzarella sticks in a single layer and spray the tops lightly.
  6. Cook: Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for about 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and melty.

Notes
