Description

A comforting and creamy Potato Bake perfect for fall gatherings and family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet, peeled and thinly sliced)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups of cream
  • 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme or rosemary
  • Olive oil or butter to grease the baking dish
  • Optional: A pinch of paprika


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare a large baking dish by greasing it with olive oil or butter.
  3. Layer the sliced potatoes in the dish, overlapping slightly.
  4. Add half of the sliced onions and minced garlic over the first layer of potatoes.
  5. Season with half of the salt, pepper, and herbs; repeat with another layer.
  6. Final layer: sprinkle remaining seasoning on top.
  7. Mix cream and milk in a bowl, then pour evenly over layered potatoes.
  8. Top with grated cheddar cheese, adding more on top if desired.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove foil and continue baking for another 30 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Using high-quality cheese can significantly enhance the flavor. Experiment with different herbs for a unique twist!
