Description
A nostalgic summer dessert made with juicy nectarines caramelized with brown sugar, topped with a buttery oat crumble. It’s warm, golden, and irresistible—just like grandma used to make.
Ingredients
- 6 ripe but firm nectarines, sliced (skins on)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar (for topping)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (for topping)
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, toss sliced nectarines with lemon juice, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
- Transfer fruit mixture into a greased baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the topping.
- Cut cold butter into the dry ingredients using your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture becomes coarse and crumbly.
- Evenly distribute the crumble topping over the nectarines, leaving some clusters for texture.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, until topping is golden and fruit is bubbling around the edges.
- Let cool slightly. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Try mixing in blueberries, strawberries, or peaches for variations. A dash of cardamom or chopped nuts in the topping adds extra flavor and crunch.
