Description
Buttery soft sugar cookies with a spooky twist drizzled in creamy white chocolate and decorated to look like mummies. Perfectly festive and fun for Halloween baking.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup white chocolate chips or white melting wafers
- Candy eyes
- Optional: gel food coloring or Halloween sprinkles
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
- Beat in the egg and vanilla until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic and chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out chilled dough to ¼-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
- Use a round cookie cutter to cut out shapes and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Let cool completely.
- Melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 15 seconds until smooth.
- Drizzle chocolate in zigzag lines over cookies using a spoon, piping bag, or plastic bag with the tip cut off.
- Before the chocolate sets, press two candy eyes onto each cookie.
- Let dry completely before stacking or storing.
Notes
Chill the dough for the best shape and texture. Don’t overbake cookies should be soft with lightly golden edges. Get creative with mini versions or add Halloween sprinkles for extra flair.
