Description
Sticky and succulent honey soy chicken drumsticks, perfectly cooked in the air fryer for a healthier twist on a classic favorite.
Ingredients
- 8 chicken drumsticks (skin-on, bone-in)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (ensure it’s halal)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Optional: sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, sesame oil, vinegar, black pepper, and salt until well combined. Add the chicken drumsticks, making sure they are completely covered in the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor).
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Arrange the Drumsticks: Remove the drumsticks from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off. Arrange the drumsticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
- Cook the drumsticks in the air fryer for 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through. Brush the drumsticks with the reserved marinade during the last 5 minutes.
- Check Doneness: Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C) before serving.
- Serve and Enjoy: Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
For extra crispy skin, pat the chicken dry before marinating. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
