Description

A cozy and creamy pasta dish with seasoned minced beef, perfect for weeknight dinners and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (use your preferred halal ground beef)
  • 2 cups small pasta (elbow, shells, or mini rotini)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or unsweetened plant milk)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Optional: 1 cup frozen peas or corn, stirred in at the end

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté 3–4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until nicely browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
  5. Add the tomato paste, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper; stir to coat the meat.
  6. Pour in the broth and milk, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  7. Stir in the dry pasta. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
  8. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar until melted and smooth.
  10. Fold in frozen peas or corn if using. Taste and adjust salt and pepper.

Notes

For a creamier texture, stir in a tablespoon of cream cheese or a splash of cream at the end.
