Description

A comforting and delicious homemade dessert featuring spiced apples topped with a crunchy crisp, perfect for autumn.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter (cut into small pieces)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and flour in a large bowl. Toss until well-coated and spread in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Mix oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon in another bowl. Add cold butter and combine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apple mixture.
  5. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until apples are bubbly and topping is golden brown.
  6. Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor. Serve warm for a delightful experience.
