Ingredients
- 2 pounds beef (eye of round, sirloin, or flank steak)
- 1/3 cup soy sauce (or halal soy sauce)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce (halal)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Slice the beef: Place the beef in the freezer for 1-2 hours until slightly firm, then slice against the grain into 1/4 inch thick strips.
- Prepare the marinade: In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
- Marinate the beef: Place sliced beef in the marinade, ensuring all pieces are coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 160°F (70°C).
- Arrange the beef strips: Remove marinated beef from the marinade, pat dry, and arrange in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry the beef: Cook for 3-4 hours, checking after the first hour and flipping if necessary.
- Cool and store: Remove jerky from air fryer and allow it to cool completely before storing.
