Description

A heartwarming Glazed Ham Joint paired with seasonal vegetables, perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 fully-cooked ham joint (about 5-7 pounds)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3-4 medium carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 3-4 medium parsnips, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 1 red onion, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves in a small saucepan over medium heat until dissolved.
  3. Place the ham joint in a large roasting pan and score its surface in a diamond pattern.
  4. Brush half of the glaze over the ham surface.
  5. Toss the carrots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, and red onion with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  6. Spread the vegetables around the ham in the roasting pan.
  7. Cover the pan loosely with aluminum foil and roast for 1.5 to 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to allow the ham to caramelize.
  9. Check the internal temperature of the ham; it should read at least 140°F (60°C).
  10. Let the ham rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving with the vegetables.

Notes

Basting the ham regularly keeps it moist. Prepare the glaze ahead for quicker assembly.
