Description

A simple, cozy dish featuring flaky tilapia fillets baked with rich garlic butter and lemon, perfect for a comforting weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia fillets (about 6–8 ounces each)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well blended.
  3. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels and place them in a single layer in the prepared baking dish. Spoon the garlic butter evenly over each fillet, making sure the garlic is distributed.
  4. Bake uncovered for 10–12 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. If you prefer a lightly browned top, switch the oven to broil for the last 1–2 minutes while watching closely.
  5. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

For added crunch, sprinkle with toasted breadcrumbs or crushed nuts before baking. Ensure tilapia is evenly thick for uniform cooking.
