Ingredients
- 12 no-boil lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella, divided
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 cup water or low-sodium broth
- Olive oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until translucent, about 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Add ground meat and cook until no longer pink, breaking it up with a spoon. Stir in salt, pepper, and oregano.
- Pour in the marinara and 1/2 cup of water or broth. Simmer for 5 minutes to meld flavors.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta, egg, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, and parsley. Stir until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the dish. Place 3 no-boil noodles in a single layer. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then 1/3 of the meat sauce. Repeat two more layers, ending with a layer of meat sauce. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup mozzarella on top.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let the lasagna rest 10-15 minutes to set before slicing.
Notes
Make sure to use enough sauce to absorb and soften the no-boil noodles. Allow resting time before slicing to keep layers intact.
