A warm and comforting apple crisp dessert, perfect for fall gatherings.
Ingredients
- 6 cups of peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a large mixing bowl. Toss until well-coated.
- Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
- Pour the melted butter and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apple filling in the baking dish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
- Allow your apple crisp to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
