Description

A warm and comforting apple crisp dessert, perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a large mixing bowl. Toss until well-coated.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
  5. Pour the melted butter and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apple filling in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
  8. Allow your apple crisp to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
