Description
A guilt-free tea loaf packed with fall flavors, perfect for enjoying with a warm cup of tea.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour (or gluten-free flour)
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 banana, mashed
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts or dried fruits (optional)
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the loaf pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it.
- Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl: whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Prepare the wet ingredients in another bowl: applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), vanilla extract, and mashed banana.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients gently until just combined.
- Fold in the optional nuts or dried fruit.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve with your favorite hot beverage.
Notes
Use ripe bananas for sweetness. Adjust sweetener according to taste. Check for doneness after 40 minutes.
